Free Boy’s Bow Tie Pattern

This is a project that you might already have all the supplies you need on hand.  It is also a quick and easy project with very little machine sewing.  Since Grandda was more than happy to donate a necktie for the project, I chose the Christmas tie that he wore for years.

I think that this may be upcycling at it’s best.  A tie that has lost it’s usefulness or in this case it’s “cool” factor now has a new purpose in life!

Bunny Smocking Design

One of my favorite and most requested designs has been for the smocking design “Chocolate Bunnies” which appeared in an issue of Sew Beautiful Magazine several years ago.  I’m thrilled that Martha Pullen Company have posted the full article and smocking design on their blog!

Candy Corn Smocking Design

Our sweet little Candy Corn smocking design is now available from Martha Pullen Co.

Free Kitten Pocket Pattern

A cute kitten pocket dresses up a Fall jumper.

Jumper with Smocked Pocket

Sometimes a touch of smocking somewhere other than the front yoke adds interest to a garment.  This little jumper and blouse was made using pattern #140 and is just right for Summer and Fall.  The jumper is fully lined with pink and white seersucker, which also makes it reversible.

Less smocking also tends to be more suitable for the older girls.

Holly Embroidery Design

A Holly embroidery design for your Christmas stitching.

Snowflakes Smocking Design

The dress was made out of red micro check gingham using pattern #143 and is smocked with a design that reminds me of snowflakes.

Candy Corn Smocking Design

The “Candy Corn” smocking design is a simple design and is very easy for those new to Picture Smocking.

Smocked Pumpkins on Straight Yoke

Little smocked pumpkins suitable for a straight yoke.

Smocked Pumpkins Bishop Style

Time to get busy smocking for Fall! The design is suitable for a bishop style dress.

Sand Pail Smocking Design

The sand pails are a simple design so they make a good project for those new to Picture Smocking.  We would like to thank Martha Pullen Co. for making the design available.

The sunsuit is made by pattern #123.

Blanket Stitch A Bunny Applique’

A new dishtowel, floral fabric scraps, and brown embroidery floss were all the were needed to give my kitchen a touch of Spring!

Tiny Hearts Smocking Design

The “Tiny Hearts” smocking design works up quickly and is perfect  for those new to picture smocking.

Inchworm Embroidery Design

Pattern #132 always goes together quickly, and how about a hand embroidered inchworm for a fun summer touch!

Smocked Elephants

Here is the smocked elephant design! Inspired by a box of animal crackers! The Jon-Jon is made from white pique’, lined with white Imperial Batiste and trimmed with red and white gingham piping.  * A word of caution, the elephants have quite a few half stitches, so you will need to be familiar with them before you start. My “Beginning Smocking Book” explains half stitches.
